It’s time to look at the ponds

Four spotted chaser

I must admit I’ve been a bit busy lately and have only just got around to checking out the ponds near my house. Someone has put fish into the one nearest, which is not good news for the great crested newts which, apparently, will desert that pond for fear of having their eggs eaten.

Today was a nice warm day with only light wind so I was glad to see my first four spotted chasers, plenty of azure damselflies and a large red. If you’re looking for something to do why not pay a pond near you a visit and spend a few minutes sitting and watching the comings and goings of the insects. They’re fascinating.
