Sea-life in Monterey Bay

The enormous submarine canyon which makes up most of Monterey Bay begins about 100 metres off Moss Landing and attracts, in season, many whales from humpbacks to blues.  At this time of year, it is much quieter and only a few younger humpbacks were in residence.  Also around are the big California sea-lions and harbour seals shown here.
