Dee Estuary tea party

On a 10metre tide on the Dee Estuary, south of Liverpool, small waders and animals are driven forward by the sea towards the sea wall at Parkgate.  From the car park there, you can witness birds of prey and other opportunistic feeders taking advantage of the plentiful supply of food.  Gulls, peregrine falcons, short-eared owls, grey herons, great white egrets all enjoy the feast.  The water rail pictured were survivors but always on the defensive should a predator be still lurking.
