Anna’s Hummingbird

I’ve never been so close to Hummers as in the garden of our friend’s house in Davenport, CA.  Hold the feeder in your hand and they’ll come right up to it.  This Anna’s Hummingbird is common in this part of the world.

Interestingly, according to my BBC Wildlife magazine, the Anna can fly at 385 body lengths a second, which is faster than the 200 body lengths a second of a peregrine – Top Fact!
