Walking stick insect

As we were leaving our lodge at Casa Corcovada, the gardener called us over and showed us this amazing and massive walking stick insect.  Almost 30cms long, they usually hide during the day and emerge at night to feed on leaves.  This is a typical example of how local knowledge can help in finding wildlife.  We would never have found this without the help of the local gardener.
