At Bosque de Paz, Costa Rica, a big blue bird flew into the grounds to try and raid the feeders – a black guan, who turned out to be quite friendly and easily photographed. Not so for the great curassow, who we spotted skulking through the forest and led us on a merry dance to get a half-decent shot. It turned out she was calling her mate and buy the look of her crest, was up for some mating. Before long the male flew in to join her but, sadly, they removed themselves further into the forest before I could gather any more shots. The forest, at this point, was quite dark, so I’m relatively pleased that the images are at least recognisable.
