In or around our garden, we hardly ever see a jackdaw or a starling. In fact we last saw a jackdaw in the garden in August 2017 and we last saw a starling in April 2013, just seven years ago. But 800 metres as the crow or, for that matter, the jackdaw flies, there are plenty of jackdaws and starlings and I once counted 600 starlings in Lepton, a village only 2 miles away.
This jackdaw broke up my observation of the little owl in Gawthorpe when he stopped for a scratch in front of me. When I was looking for a nice monochrome image, this one just seemed to fit the bill.
