Ospreys

Ospreys in Flamingo, Florida and on the 12 mile long Sanibel Island, where there are 100 breeding pairs.  The osprey is an amazing fisher, diving from dizzy heights and then turning to enter the water feet first.  Often they disappear completely under water, reaching out with their long legs to catch their prey.  See the bald eagle post for some shots illustrating how, big as the ospreys are, they don’t always get to keep their catch.
