My young friend, Harry, told me about this little owl that frequents his family’s field and surrounding area. Today, I took my hide and spent an hour or two watching him, (the owl, not Harry), noting his favourite spots. Conveniently for me, he likes to hunt during the day from the posts surrounding their property and he seemed unperturbed by the occasional click of my camera. This is the one of the UK’s five owls which is not native, having been introduced during the 19th century. I call him ‘he’ only for convenience as the sexes are alike so I’ve no idea whether ‘he’ is male or female.
