With an overnight stay in Walkington, near Beverley, East Yorkshire, I couldn’t resist leaving the house at 4.30am to head for farmland at Risby where I knew there was a resident barn owl. I set off on foot to a field that looked like good barn owl territory and there she was, sitting in a tree. Typically, she saw me before I saw here and she was off, but I slung my bag hide over myself and waited. Sure enough, a few minutes later, she was hunting and I managed to grab a few shots before she left. A wander around the field brought this roe deer, complete with rabbit, and a resting hare. The goldfinch and greylag geese families were at Risby Park’s fishing lakes.
