Last night, we went to our Hillam friends’ home for dinner. In the field next door is a barn owl nest and, since they’re feeding young, I was hoping the parents might be hunting before dark. It was not to be. The first sighting we had was after 10pm when the light had gone and he/she was flying in over the barns with some prey. Nice to see but no pictures, I’m afraid.
I wasn’t equipped with any camo so there was little opportunity to get close to anything else but we did see the parent of the little owl family, and managed a shot of barn swallows and a couple of brown hares.
