Cosmopolitan Flying Fish

The Cosmopolitan flying fish in the warm waters around the Caribbean.  It flicks its lower tail fin around 50 times a second to generate the lift required for its flight and then, using its pectoral fins as wings, skims the water surface for up to 150 feet.  They are the favourite prey of masked and brown boobies who pluck them out of the air or follow them into the sea when they dive to try and escape.
